Nation Building - Economic Stimulus Packages
In December 2008 and February 2009 the Australian Government introduced measures to stimulate the economy and create jobs. This involved aditional funding over 2008-09 and 2009-10 under the Nation Building Program. These packages comprised of:
- an additional $711 million in 2008-09 and 2009-10, balanced by reductions in expenditure required in later years, to accelerate construction of 14 roads projects already announced under the Nation Building program;
- an additional $150 million in the Black Spots program in 2008-09 and 2009-10;
- $1.2 billion on an equity injection to the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) for a series of track upgrades; and
- $150 million for the Boom Gates for Rail Crossings Program over 2008-09 and 2009-10.

- Western Highway - Anthonys Cutting Realignment
- Western Ring Road Upgrade1
- Mandurah Entrance Road
- Northern Expressway and Port Wakefield Road Upgrade 1
- Midland Highway - Brighton Bypass 1

- These projects have also received early start funding in 2008-09.
