Project DescriptionThe Australian Government has committed $5.79 million under Round Two of the program over 2010-11 and 2011-12 for two projects: one New Rest Area and Inspection/Weigh Station at Yamba on the Sturt Highway and one new rest area west of Bordertown on the Dukes Highway. BenefitsThe projects will improve safety on the route by providing greater opportunities for heavy vehicle drivers to stop safely and rest and a checking station for monitoring heavy vehicle weight and general compliance with heavy vehicle legislative requirements. FundingThe Australian Government has committed $5.79 million to these projects, in partnership with the South Australian Government. TimetableWork is expected to commence in late 2010 and be completed in mid 2012. |
